Becoming a business owner provides a sense of pride and accomplishment like nothing else. When you know that your efforts to start something from scratch are helping you to bless your life and the lives of those in your community, your life will be forever changed. Are you sitting on the fence about whether or not you should take the leap and become a business owner? There are many things that you will need to consider, such as whether or not you feel equipped enough to become a brand new business owner. Instead of talking yourself out of pursuing the path of entrepreneurship, here are some reasons why you should start a business of your own:
More Choices
As an entrepreneur, you will get to design your day. There is no one telling you that you need to work a certain amount of hours, and there certainly is not anyone else looking over your shoulder peering at your work and deciding whether or not you deserve your job position. There will also be no glass ceiling preventing you from aiming as high as you want to aim. If you are the type of person who thrives on choices, then starting a business of your own is ideal because you get to choose everything about how you create and run your business. Even how you decorate your home office is your choice. Just imagine how good you will feel when you design your Tuesday schedule and don’t have to ask anyone for permission to take two hours off to have an extended lunch with your family members. Being a business owner allows you the opportunity to make broader choices that affect not only your professional life, but your personal life too.
Valuable Life Lessons
I can personally share that I have felt many moments of gratitude over the past few years when I stopped and reflected on all of the blessings that entrepreneurship has provided. Thanks to the choices that stem from entrepreneurship, I have been able to comfortably pay for specific things that I felt I needed to do, such as pay for the paperwork processing fee to apply for Barbados citizenship. Although I appreciate the fact that I’m a Canadian born and raised citizen, I still wanted the proper legal paperwork done to give me greater citizenship access to Barbados, the country where my parents and other family members were born and raised.
The income that I make from my home-based voice acting business made it possible for me to pay the processing fee without stressing about it at all. Through entrepreneurship, I have learned the value of doing something today that my future self will thank me for. The proactive and progressive things that I do today will benefit me in my future. My voice acting work made it possible to pay the paperwork processing that I wanted to get done. What if I had said no and turned down those voice acting roles? I’m so thankful that I said yes!
Setting Examples for Others
Just think about the positive example that you will set for others when you branch out on your own and create your own company! My vision has expanded because of the deposits that other entrepreneurs have made in my life and in the lives of other people. It’s wonderful to know that other people’s lives will change for the better because of your willingness to pass on the knowledge you have gained from running your business. When your family members and friends see you taking a stronger leadership role in your life, they may feel motivated to be more proactive in their own lives.
As a direct sales business owner, I am especially drawn to testimonials of leaders in direct sales companies. It is truly amazing to learn about how building home based direct sales businesses or, any business from scratch, has provided flexibility, income, and opportunity for people whose lives would have been very different had they worked in traditional 9 to 5 businesses for employers. Every type of job has value and is important, however, entrepreneurship can provide certain comforts that traditional jobs cannot. For example, I know a woman who started her own music school over 20 years ago. When her close family member’s health was declining, that music school owner was able to step away from her business for months, leaving her company in the hands of her trusted independent contractors to operate while she was by her relative’s side spending as much time with her as she possibly could. Other business owners I know have been able to do the same; schedule their work around their families, not the other way around.
Creating Opportunities for Others
Your company can open many doors for people living in your local community. Even if you operate a small business with just 1 to 10 employees or independent contractors, other people will have more opportunities to develop their skills through working for your company. I have built many enriching relationships with people who I never would have met if I had not met them through my entrepreneurial endeavors. Through those relationships that I built, I have been able to connect many other people and they have also been able to connect me to people who I am blessed to now know. Those relationships have led to career opportunities, education, and friendships for all of us.
Providing a Need
The company that you lead is providing a need for yourself as well as for other people. The products and or services that you offer through your business are essential to the enhancement of someone else’s life. There are people whose destinies are tied to your obedience. Each day of being a business owner will be one in which you will grow and learn. Most of all, you will be called to serve and be the best that you can be. You simply have to aim to be your best when you are your own boss. Rest assured though, being your own boss also means that you can take it easy and work at your own pace if you need to. Now is the perfect time to get started! When unexpected situations happen in your life, the flexibility of being a business owner will benefit you when you need to pivot and focus on what needs your most immediate attention. You will never have to worry about firing yourself! Take more control over your future by developing and following your vision to design your life and create your own business.
