The leaderboard is a tracker, and you know what they say…a tracked number or goal grows. If you have ever watched the hit show Dancing with the Stars, you are familiar with what a leaderboard is. The leaderboard is the visual display board that lists the scores of everyone who is in the competition, and everyone looks to the leaderboard for information about where they are, where they want to be, and who they need to beat in order to get to where they want to be. I used to shy away from career leaderboards because I did not want the pressure of comparing myself to others. Heck, I used to feel uncomfortable with even comparing myself to myself. But lately, I am longing to be on the leaderboards of success and I feel inspired by beating my best. Here is why being driven and having a longing to be on the leaderboard can help you to live the life that you deserve to live:
Life is about change. All of us who live on earth have our own unique lives; just like snowflakes, no two people are ever the same. However, the one common denominator in all of our lives is that we all encounter change. From the moment that we are born, change is part of our lives and we must work through it. There is nothing that we can do to stop change from happening. When we feel uncomfortable in our situations, the urge to experience change is powerful and overwhelming. When a scoreboard is in front of us, it represents a measure of success. Instead of feeling intimidated by a goal, use a scoreboard as a visual tool that helps you to realize the reality of where you are. Once you realize where you are, it will be easier for you to map out where you want to be.
Courage is something that a person acquires through time, and it takes time to build. A goal tracker like a leaderboard is a tool that can motivate you to have the courage to aim high and operate at a higher level of ability and awareness. I have spent countless hours absorbing content showcasing people who are successful at meeting their goals, and the one common denominator from all of those success stories is that each of those leaders started as a beginner. Setting goals and building the courage to achieve those goals is how you slowly but steadily change your situation. When we know the exact target of what we are aiming towards, we can work on developing the driven spirit to courageously approach our goals.
Achieving the Glory
I used to be afraid to aim high because I believed that aiming high would lead to stress and possibly failure. However, I have come to realize that NOT aiming high and NOT focusing on goals leads to stress, failure, and unhappiness. We all need something to believe in. Why shouldn’t we believe in ourselves? Believing in yourself should be your biggest goal of all, and there is glory in seeing your dreams come to life. Some people are born into circumstances where believing in themselves is a completely foreign concept. And yet, learning to believe in ourselves is one of the important responsibilities that we can ever. When you set about crushing your goals, you will see that leaders grow and become equipped to help other people get to where they need to be because they took the time to set audacious goals, put those goals in front of them, and refused to rest on their laurels.
